Van Liew Receives Prestigious Internship

VanLiewFSOP student Jeffrey Van Liew (’16) was awarded the Paul G. Cano Legislative Internship for Pharmacy Students. This American Society of Consultant Pharmacists honor is awarded to only 2 students each year, and is an 8-week opportunity in Washington DC to attend congressional hearings, research and analyzing issues that affect pharmacists nationwide, meeting with federal regulatory agencies and national coalitions, monitor changes in legislation and regulations and draft communications relating to pharmacy practice policy. This internship offers pharmacy students experience and training in legislative and regulatory advocacy on a federal level, and a chance to see first-hand how politics shape pharmacists’ practice across the nation.
